AWIS National Names AWIS-PHL a Shooting Star for Strategic Vision

As AWIS Philadelphia approached its 35th anniversary, they engaged in intensive strategic planning for 2021–2026. They developed a vision for member recruitment, engagement, and retention, as well as a clear picture of how to accomplish the chapter’s goals and objectives.”

Dr. Natalie Chernets, Past President, AWIS Philadelphia, commented, “I am incredibly proud of the AWIS-Philadelphia leadership team that stepped up during the COVID-19 pandemic and engaged in intensive strategic planning for 2021-2026. In the midst of massive disruption, we needed to assess our strengths and weaknesses and to look farther into the future to evaluate threats and identify opportunities. In a series of meetings, each team member reflected on the reasons that drew them to AWIS and what their motivation was in assuming a leadership role with the chapter. Together we developed goals and initiatives that reflected the focus and purpose of our chapter, in conjunction with AWIS’s National vision. As we enter the 35th anniversary of the Philadelphia chapter, each of our leaders and committee chairs has a vision for member recruitment, engagement, and retention, as well as a clear picture of how to accomplish the chapter’s goals and objectives. As we implement this strategic plan, we will continue evaluating our progress and modifying our initiatives and goals, where appropriate, to build our legacy in supporting diversity in STEM.”
